Disco

Today we had a cool Christmas disco, we listened to music and boogied in the sensory room. At lunch we had a sausage sizzle and a lovely bowl of strawberries and ice cream with a nice piece of shortbread to dip.

Indoor garden

I had fun in the sensory room, we had an indoor garden, I loved the relaxing music, the fan, the windmills and the flowers. 

Standing frame

I have a brand new standing frame to use when I am at Arohanui, I was really smiley and happy in it, stretching out my legs, how exciting.

A lovely sensory listening to Vivaldi,The Four Seasons...lots of violins to sing along to.

Healthy drinks

I am helping Nicky to make a lovely healthy drink of ginger and fresh lemons ❤️❤️❤️

Cooking

Today we made some delicious ginger lemonade.We sorted the lemons which I really enjoyed and Alissa squeezed them into a jug,we added water and ginger and cooked the mix for a short while before popping it in the fridge to cool .....yumm,a healthy drink anytime of the day !!

Sensory

Lots of laughter with the lights and sounds of seagulls and crashing waves !!

Christmas pottery

In pottery I have been helping to get all of the lovely Xmas decorations ready to put in the gallery for Christmas. We have been painting and putting ribbons on hearts, stars and reindeer. 

Maraca Magic

Here I am in music grooving the music and shaking the maracas to the beat. I love a dog I can dance to!

Tauranga arts festival

On Friday I went to the luminarium light show on the strand there was lots colourful lights it was very oeacefull and carming.

Sensory

I enjoyed a sensory session listening to one of my favourite CDs of short stories...I love to sing along to the music and the animals noises make me smile.Here I am shaking the pretty lights in time to the music.

Cookery

Important jobs to do today,lots of tidying and sorting the cupboards in the kitchen.So many boxes and so many lids. I enjoyed putting them inside each and making some noise !!!

Hairy maclary

I went down and saw the hairy maclary statues they're pretty cool.

Back to getting messy in the pottery,what fun !! Here I am rolling the clay ready to make our garden tags.

Today we are making scrambled eggs. I had a lot of fun whisking them!

My mosaic

I have been working really hard on making a sensory mosaic that is great for people who cannot see. It has many textures and interesting objects to feel, I really enjoy exploring it with my hands. It has turned out really cool, I did an awesome job. 

Sensory

I enjoyed a relaxing sensory,classical guitar music and a gentle vibrating cushion....bliss,ahh !

Seagull

We finished our seagull in mosaics. It turned out really cool! 

Tactile fun

I was playing with different balls. Some were rubber, some has soft spiky bits and my favourite had a bell inside

Visit to the Wilrose Garden

I had a lovely outing to see the lovely garden at the Wilrose centre. I loved the art on the walls and the different types of plants. I similes the whole time. 

Happy to be back!

I am happy to be back at Arohanui with all my friends.I enjoyed some singing yesterday and an outting to the wilrose sensory garden.

Making home made butter

Today in cooking we made our very own butter using cream. It turned out really lovely! We spread it on some fresh bread and made sandwiches. Yum. 

Picking winter Veges

I had a lovely time picking different colours of Silverbeet and some yummy Brocollini to take home for mum to try. I always enjoy garden outings. 

Glow disco

On Friday we had a shared Lunch of pumpkin soup and then enjoyed a boggie down at the glow disco in the sensory room.

Fun in the sun

I had a lovely outing to the community garden in Merivale. I enjoyed the sunshine, smelling all the sensory herbs and flowers and listening to the birds as we weeded our garden. 

Cooking

I loved making smoothies with my friends.  We used the blender and mixed everything together. 

 

Making a mess

Having fun making a mess in art and craft. I love painting.

Out and about

Melissa loved the pink flowers at Mega Mitre 10.  She smelt the lavender and looked at the lights.

Sensory exploration

I have been a very busy lady lately. I am working on a sensory board that will either go in out gallery or go in an exibition later this year. I have also enjoyed my visits to the Wilrose sensory garden and to the Merivale community garden. 

High tea

Yesterday we had a high tea at Arohanui I was very excited that my mum came along.

McLarens Falls

I went on an outing to the suspension bridge at McLarens Falls. It was very high. It would bounce slightly as we walked along it.

Sensory Jars

In tactile activities I helped to make some cool sensory jars filled with coloured water, glitter and other Yesterday in cooking I helped make chocolate chip hot cross buns. They were delious. ool things that glow in the dark or sparkle in the lights. We then took them into the sensory room and I looked at them under a spotlight and made shadow puppets. 

Pottery bowls

Today my painted pottery bowls came back from Bethlehem all glazed and shiney.

Making a card for mum

I have been busy in cardmaking preparing a card for my mum. We used the cool Cuttlebug paper pressing contraption to put shapes in paper and cut out butterfly shapes. It looks really cool. 

tactile fun!!

I have really busy exploring creating with different meduims. I did some smiley face sculptures with playdough and some beautiful abstract art with chalk. I am becoming quite the artist! More to come soon. 

Bowling!!

I had an awesome time bowling!! I would hit the ball off the walker and bowl over the pins. It was awesome. 

Coil Pots

This afternoon we rolled clay into coils to make a small pot...I worked with me friend Alissa.

Marble fun

I had some fun in tactile activities playing with bubbles, foam and marbles. I loved the warm water and the sound of the marbles.

Today I had a fun time in music, playing the maracas, listening to disco music and singing. 

Fun in music

I have been having a ball in music today, I have been shaking the marracca and singing my lungs out!!

Back to pottery and already planning some new project ,painted plates and bowls and maybe a teapot!
